As a government residential apartment development, the landscape needed to consider the robustness off its design from the outset, however we believe that ambitious and conceptualised design can also be delivered cost effectively and with long life cycles.
We used repeated ‘gardens’ over 28 building podium terraces, available for residents only. Each ‘garden’ was predominantly associated with a function or element or combination, such as seating, play, shade or lawn. Placing the gardens in differing configurations, gives variety to the terraces, and designing them in fluid forms is intended to give softer welcoming spaces for residents.
Using repetition in the discrete elements has created not only a unifying theme for the apartments blocks but has made the design process efficient, the client approval process streamlined and the construction process cost effective, whilst retaining individuality and sense of place for residents.
